Hour of Code (HoC) is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. As a part of HoC we’ve created an opportunity for you and your students to embark on a magical coding adventure with Mickey!
Play as Akito - the newest student at Technologia School of Magic - as he learns how to draw, color, and move shapes all using JavaScript and the magic of programming. In our one hour lesson, students will progress through a series of three self-propelled gem lessons concluded by one cumulative book lesson that incorporates all the concepts covered in the previous three gems.
From there, your students will enter the world of the original Disney movie, Tangled, where the learning continues and they’ll have the opportunity to create and manipulate code to make magical lanterns appear, disappear, move at varying speeds and much more!
This entertaining and beginner-friendly lesson is further enhanced by Mimir, a virtual mentor guiding the way with clear, easy-to-follow instructions as well as helpful hints should a student feel stuck.
